How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of commercial activities on a construction project in Newcastle. This role is well suited to an individual with a strong foundation in cost management and subcontractor control, looking to further their expertise within a collaborative and professional environment.

    Location and Working Pattern
    Newcastle, United Kingdom – full‑time.

    Client Overview
    Our client is a well‑established construction business delivering large‑scale projects across the UK and Europe. They are recognised for providing full‑service solutions from design through to completion and are trusted by leading organisations for their technical excellence and delivery capability.

    Responsibilities

    Support senior Quantity Surveyors and the wider commercial team in the management of subcontract packages.
    Assist with tender documentation, budget preparation and procurement processes.
    Review subcontractor tender returns and prepare analyses.
    Support the preparation and administration of subcontractor documentation.
    Contribute to monthly valuations, payments and cost reporting.
    Help assess variations, claims and other commercial matters.
    Maintain accurate commercial records and monitor project costs.
    Compile cost/value reconciliations and cash flow reports.
    Participate in subcontractor final accounts and project commercial close‑out.
    Liaise with subcontractors, clients and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.Must‑have Requirements

    Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
    2–5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within a construction environment.
    Good understanding of construction methodologies and commercial management.
    Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
    Excellent communication and organisation abilities.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.Nice‑to‑have Skills

    Familiarity with software such as CostX or Buildsoft.
    Experience gained with a main contractor or on technically complex projects.Benefits
