How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are seeking a Technical Safety Specialist (Project Support) to join our Capenhurst site. You will be responsible for implementing and embedding technical safety frameworks across Urenco's project portfolio. Working across nuclear, process, electrical, chemical, machinery, lifting, and stored energy disciplines, you will provide practical guidance that enables projects to implement safety requirements effectively throughout the project lifecycle.

You will support project teams from concept design through commissioning and handover, supporting hazard studies, supporting technical safety assessments, and ensuring alignment with Design Authority standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice.

At Urenco, we're committed to helping you be your best. If you feel you meet some, but not all, of what we're looking for, we still encourage you to apply. We believe in embracing the passion and potential of our people and offer market-leading training, development, coaching, and mentoring opportunities from some of the brightest minds in the industry.

    What You'll Do

    Lead Technical Safety Delivery (Projects)

Support the implementation of technical safety frameworks across major projects and programmes located globally.
Develop practical guidance, procedures, templates, and working documents to support project delivery.
Promote a proactive safety culture and support the achievement of HSE objectives across the project portfolio.
Provide specialist technical safety advice to project teams and stakeholders.
    Support Hazard & Risk Management

Facilitate and contribute to HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA studies.
Support functional safety assessments, SIL determination, and safety verification activities.
Undertake or support fire risk assessments, consequence modelling, and risk assessments where required.
Ensure technical safety risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively throughout project delivery.
    Support Project Delivery

Work closely with Design Authority, R&D teams, subject matter experts, and project teams to ensure safety requirements are integrated into designs.
Review technical documentation, engineering assessments, and safety deliverables.
Support commissioning, safety-critical equipment verification, and handover activities.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and Urenco standards.
    Drive Continuous Improvement

Promote lessons learned, best practice, and knowledge sharing across projects.
Support the development of technical safety processes, methodologies, and training requirements.
Contribute to assurance activities, audits, inspections, and performance reviews.
Maintain awareness of industry developments and emerging best practice.
What Do You Need to Thrive in This Role?

    Qualifications

Degree qualified in Engineering, Science, Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
Chartered status or postgraduate qualifications desirable.
Membership of a relevant professional institution desirable.
    Experience

Experience delivering technical safety (Process Safety ) support within high-hazard or highly regulated environments.
Demonstrable experience in Health, Safety and Environmental management systems.
Experience supporting major engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
Experience developing or implementing technical safety improvement initiatives.
    Technical & Professional Capability

Strong understanding of technical safety, hazard identification, and risk management.
Experience supporting HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and related safety studies.
Knowledge of relevant HSE legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
    Behavioural Attributes

Results-focused with a commitment to safety excellence.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
    Collaborative and customer-focused approach.
Committed to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
