How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Lincoln | Office-based | Full-time | £28,000-£37,000 + performance-related bonus

Love the challenge of opening doors and creating new business? We're looking for a Business Development Executive who is confident, curious and commercially minded, someone who enjoys finding the right people, starting conversations and turning potential into genuine opportunities.

This is a role for someone who wants to do more than make endless cold calls.

You'll have the opportunity to research interesting organisations, identify key decision-makers, create compelling reasons to engage and build relationships with prospects over time.

If you're naturally persistent, enjoy speaking to people and get a buzz from achieving sales this could be for you.

    About the Role

As Business Development Executive, you'll play a key role in generating new business opportunities across a defined portfolio of target accounts.

You'll be responsible for finding opportunities, opening conversations and developing early-stage relationships before working with the wider sales team to progress those opportunities.

    Your day-to-day will include:

Researching target organisations and identifying the right decision-makers and influencers.
Using telephone, LinkedIn and email to create meaningful conversations.
Developing creative, relevant reasons for prospects to engage, rather than relying on generic scripts.
Building relationships through thoughtful and persistent follow-up.
Identifying and qualifying genuine sales opportunities.
Securing high-quality meetings for the wider sales team.
Following up leads generated through marketing, referrals, events and other channels.
Keeping accurate and up-to-date information within HubSpot.
Joining customer meetings, site visits and industry events when appropriate.
Gradually taking greater ownership of opportunities as your confidence and capability grow.Requirements

We're open to people at different stages of their sales career.

You may already have experience in B2B sales or business development, or you could be earlier in your career and looking for an opportunity where your personality, ambition and potential can really shine.

We're looking for someone who is:

Confident speaking to new people, including senior decision-makers.
Comfortable on the phone and willing to pick it up rather than hide behind email.
Driven and resilient, with the determination to keep going when things don't happen immediately.
Curious, with the ability to ask good questions and genuinely understand a prospect's business.
Commercially minded, with an instinct for spotting opportunities.
Resourceful, able to research an organisation and adapt your approach accordingly.
Personable and credible, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
Organised, with strong attention to follow-up and CRM management.
Coachable and ambitious, with a genuine desire to learn and progress.Previous experience selling into larger organisations would be advantageous, but it isn't essential.

    Industry experience isn't required.

What matters most is your ability to identify a target account, find the right people, create a reason for them to talk to you, uncover an opportunity and get the right salesperson in front of the prospect.

    Benefits

£28,000-£37,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
    Performance-related bonus/commission.
33 days' holiday, including bank holidays.
    40 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
Structured onboarding and ongoing sales development.
Exposure to senior customers and decision-makers.
Opportunities to attend customer meetings, site visits and industry events.
Support from an experienced Sales, Marketing and Account Support team.
Clear opportunity to develop your skills and take on greater responsibility in Business Development.
A role where initiative, ideas and commercial thinking are genuinely valued.Ready to make an impact? If you're ambitious, resilient and enjoy the challenge of opening doors, this is an opportunity to build a career in business development , not simply work through a call list.

Bring your curiosity. Bring your confidence. Bring your ambition.
