Contract: Long-Term, Temp-to-PermLong Term Futures are recruiting a resilient and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated SEN provision within an Ofsted-rated 'Good' mainstream junior school in Rugby, CV22.
This role involves supporting a small group of 4-5 boys with significant ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs, who can display highly challenging and unpredictable behaviour, including verbal aggression and emotional dysregulation.
The school is looking for a confident and experienced Teaching Assistant who can remain calm under pressure, establish firm but positive boundaries and use effective de-escalation strategies to support pupils safely.
The Role
Support a small group of 4-5 pupils within a mainstream junior school's SEN provision
Work with pupils who have complex ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs
Manage challenging behaviour, including verbal aggression and emotional dysregulation
Recognise behavioural triggers and implement effective de-escalation strategies
Establish clear boundaries, consistent routines and positive relationships
Support pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction and communication
Deliver individualised learning activities adapted to pupils' needs
Maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
Work closely with the SENCO, teachers and wider inclusion team
What the School is Looking For
Strong experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour is essential
Previous experience working with ASD, ADHD and SEMH
Experience within an SEN provision, specialist school, alternative provision or similar setting would be highly desirable
Confident managing verbal aggression and highly dysregulated behaviour
Knowledge of Team Teach, PRICE or other positive behaviour support and de-escalation approaches would be beneficial
Ability to remain calm, assertive and professional in challenging situations
Strong relationship-building skills with clear and consistent boundaries
A resilient, patient and proactive approach
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
