How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Graduate Cover Supervisor Jobs - Wirral Schools

    Location: Wirral, Merseyside
Salary: Competitive daily rates, dependent on experience
Contract: Daily supply, short-term and long-term opportunities
    Start: Current and upcoming opportunities

Are you a graduate looking to gain valuable experience in secondary education? Do you have experience working with young people and the confidence to manage a classroom?

Tradewind Recruitment is looking to recruit enthusiastic, confident and reliable graduates for Cover Supervisor opportunities across secondary schools on the Wirral.

We work closely with partner secondary schools throughout the Wirral and are keen to expand our network of graduates interested in classroom-based work.

These opportunities may include daily supply, short-term assignments and longer-term Cover Supervisor placements, depending on school requirements.

Whether you are considering a future career in teaching, looking to gain experience before applying for a PGCE, or simply want to develop your skills working with young people, Cover Supervisor work could be an excellent next step.

This advertisement is intended to recruit candidates for current and upcoming opportunities with our partner schools.

What Does a Graduate Cover Supervisor Do?

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise secondary school classes when the usual teacher is absent.

Lessons and activities will normally have been prepared in advance, meaning you will not be expected to plan and deliver your own teaching curriculum.

    Your responsibilities may include:

Supervising pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4

Delivering pre-prepared lessons and classroom activities

Maintaining positive behaviour and classroom expectations

Ensuring pupils remain focused and engaged

Supporting pupils with the work provided

Following school safeguarding and behaviour policies

    Providing feedback to teaching staff

Building positive relationships with pupils and colleagues

Adapting to different subjects, year groups and school environments

You do not need Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to become a Cover Supervisor.

However, you must be confident managing groups of secondary-aged pupils and demonstrate previous experience working with children or young people.

    Who Are We Looking For?

We are particularly interested in graduates who:

Hold a degree in any subject

Have previous experience working with children or young people

Are confident communicating with groups of pupils

Can establish clear expectations and manage behaviour

Have strong organisational and interpersonal skills

    Are reliable, adaptable and professional

Can travel to secondary schools across the Wirral

Have a genuine interest in education or working with young people

    Relevant experience could include:

    Sports coaching

    Youth work

    Tutoring or mentoring

    Teaching Assistant experience

Summer camps and children's activity programmes

Volunteering with children or young people

Classroom support or other educational roles

Previous school experience is desirable but not essential, provided you can demonstrate relevant experience working with young people.

An Excellent Opportunity for Aspiring Teachers

If you are considering teacher training, working as a Graduate Cover Supervisor can provide valuable first-hand classroom experience.

You will develop your understanding of:

    Classroom and behaviour management

    Secondary school routines and expectations

    Supporting pupils across different subjects

Communicating with groups of young people

    Working alongside experienced teachers

    Safeguarding and professional responsibilities

This experience can help you make an informed decision about pursuing a career in teaching.

    Important Applicant Information

Applicants must currently be based in the UK, have the right to work in the UK and be able to travel to schools across the Wirral.
