£100 - £125 | Haverhill, Suffolk | Start ASAP
For the right pupil, having one consistent adult in their corner can completely change how their school day feels.
We're looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a school in the Haverhill area, supporting pupils who need additional help to access learning, manage the school day and build confidence in the classroom.
This role would suit someone who is patient, dependable and genuinely interested in understanding the individual needs of the pupils they support. Previous SEN experience is valuable, but just as important is your ability to build trust and remain calm when a pupil is finding things difficult.
What will you be doing?
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers and other support staff to provide consistent classroom support.
Depending on the pupils you're working with, your day may involve:
Providing one-to-one and small-group support
Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities
Breaking tasks into smaller, achievable steps
Supporting communication and social interaction
Encouraging confidence and greater independence
Helping pupils regulate their emotions and remain engaged
Following individual support and behaviour strategies
Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and other education professionalsThere will be days when progress is obvious and others when it might simply mean a pupil staying engaged for a little longer, completing something they previously avoided or feeling comfortable enough to ask for help.
Those smaller wins matter.
Who are we looking for?
Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant would be ideal, although we're also interested in candidates with relevant experience from education, care, youth work or other support settings.
We're particularly looking for someone who is:
Patient and approachable
Reliable and consistent
Able to build appropriate relationships with pupils
Comfortable supporting a range of learning needs
Calm when faced with challenging situations
Happy working closely with teachers and support staff
