How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Interim Assistant Headteacher - KS2 - North West London
Role: Interim Assistant Headteacher (AHT) - KS2
    Location: North West London
Start Date: ASAP / to be confirmed
    Salary / Pay: UPS3 - L7

    Contract: Interim
    Working Pattern: Full-time

SANZA Teaching Agency are delighted to be working with a creative primary school in North West London who are seeking an experienced Interim Assistant Headteacher to provide senior leadership support across Key Stage 2.

This is an important interim appointment for the school and they are looking for an experienced, confident primary leader who can step into the role, establish strong relationships quickly and provide a visible leadership presence across KS2.

The successful candidate will work closely with the existing senior leadership team and teaching staff, helping to maintain high standards across the key stage and providing practical, day-to-day leadership support.

For an experienced Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or established senior primary leader who is available at short notice, this is an excellent opportunity to make an immediate impact within a creative school environment.

    THE ROLE

As Interim Assistant Headteacher, your primary responsibility will be to provide strong and consistent leadership across Key Stage 2.

The exact remit will be agreed by the school, but this is very much a hands-on leadership position. The school needs somebody who is comfortable being visible across the key stage, supporting staff and responding confidently to the day-to-day demands of school leadership.

    Responsibilities are expected to include:

Providing a strong and visible senior leadership presence across KS2
Working closely with the Headteacher and wider senior leadership team
Supporting teachers and support staff across the key stage
Helping to maintain high expectations for teaching, learning and pupil outcomes
Supporting consistency in classroom practice and expectations across KS2
Providing guidance and practical support to teaching staff where required
Supporting with day-to-day operational and pastoral matters
Maintaining high expectations for behaviour and pupil wellbeing
Helping ensure school policies and expectations are implemented consistently
Building positive professional relationships with pupils, staff and senior leaders
Identifying priorities quickly and responding with practical solutions
Contributing to the wider leadership and effective day-to-day running of the school
Maintaining a strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and ensuring these remain central to practiceAs this is an interim senior leadership appointment, the school is particularly interested in somebody who can come in with the experience and confidence to make an immediate contribution.

You will need to be comfortable joining an established team, understanding the school's priorities quickly and providing additional leadership capacity without requiring extensive support to settle into the position.

    THE SCHOOL

SANZA is working with a creative primary school in North West London that is looking to strengthen its senior leadership capacity across Key Stage 2 on an interim basis.

The school is seeking an experienced leader who can work collaboratively with the existing leadership structure rather than somebody looking to completely reinvent existing systems.

They need a leader who can listen, assess what is needed, build trust with staff and provide calm and effective leadership during the interim period.

This would particularly suit somebody who enjoys being actively involved in school life and is comfortable working closely with teachers, pupils and fellow leaders rather than operating solely at a strategic level.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

For this particular vacancy, recent and relevant primary school leadership experience is important.

The school would particularly like to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

Previous experience within primary school senior leadership
Experience as an Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or established senior leader
Strong knowledge and practical experience of Key Stage 2
A secure understanding of teaching, learning and assessment within the primary phase
The ability to support, challenge and work constructively alongside teaching staff
Confidence providing leadership across a busy key stage
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to establish credibility and positive working relationships quickly
A calm, organised and solutions-focused approach
Confidence dealing with day-to-day pastoral and operational matters
High expectations for behaviour, teaching and pupil outcomes
A strong understanding of safeguarding and the responsibilities associated with senior school leadership
The flexibility and resilience required when stepping into an interim leadership position
Availability to begin the role at short noticeThis position would be particularly well suited to an experienced Assistant Headteacher or senior primary leader who is available for an interim assignment and has the confidence to take responsibility across KS2 from the outset.
