How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An established multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Engineer to strengthen their Glasgow fire engineering team. The opportunity will suit a Senior Fire Engineer looking to take greater ownership of complex projects while supporting junior engineers and contributing to the continued growth of the team.

    The Senior Fire Engineer's Role

    The Senior Fire Engineer will lead the preparation and delivery of fire strategies across commercial, residential, healthcare, education and major mixed-use developments.

    The Senior Fire Engineer will provide technical fire safety advice throughout the design and construction process, liaising closely with architects, developers, contractors and approval authorities.

    Responsibilities will include fire strategy reports, means of escape assessments, smoke control considerations, external wall and façade advice, design reviews and supporting projects through Building Regulations approval.

    The Senior Fire Engineer will also mentor less experienced engineers and assist with quality assurance and technical reviews.

    The Senior Fire Engineer

    The successful Senior Fire Engineer will ideally have:

    A relevant Fire Engineering or Engineering degree

    Strong consultancy experience within fire engineering

    Detailed knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and Building Regulations

    Experience managing projects and client relationships

    Membership of the IFE, CIBSE or another relevant professional body

    Chartered status or progression towards chartership
