How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Business Development Manager

Salary to £80k (doe) plus car allowance

We're looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join a growing mission critical engineering business operating within a highly regulated environment.

This is a key role focused on identifying new opportunities, developing strong client relationships and turning market intelligence into tangible business growth. You'll be the first point of contact for new business, working closely with senior stakeholders, technical teams and the wider commercial function to take opportunities from initial conversation through to tender.

    What will you be doing?

You'll take ownership of business development activity across PP&E, with a strong focus on new business growth, account development and opportunity capture.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Identifying, qualifying and pursuing new business opportunities in line with strategic objectives.

Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers and strategic partners.

Meeting clients and presenting technical and commercial capabilities to prospective customers.

Managing opportunities through the CRM system, including Salesforce.

Working closely with the Tendering team to develop opportunities from early-stage capture through to formal tender submission.

Developing capture and account plans to maximise opportunities and improve win rates.

Researching markets, customers, competitors and procurement activity to identify emerging opportunities.

Preparing and delivering compelling presentations to clients and internal stakeholders.

Representing the business at exhibitions, conferences, networking events and industry forums.

Supporting marketing activity, including content creation and tender collateral.

Providing market intelligence, sales forecasts and insight to support commercial decision-making.

Working collaboratively with technical, delivery, commercial, marketing and wider business development teams.

Developing strong relationships with third-party organisations and partners where required to deliver complete customer solutions.

This is a role where commercial initiative really matters. You'll need to be comfortable spotting opportunities, influencing stakeholders and turning conversations into meaningful business wins.

    What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with a proven track record in business development or sales, ideally gained within a complex, technical or highly regulated environment.

    You'll bring:

Proven experience winning new business and successfully pitching to clients.

Experience developing and managing strong client and supplier relationships across private and/or public sector organisations.

Experience working within a fast-paced business development or sales environment.

A background in design and build projects delivered within a highly regulated environment.

Excellent presentation and communication skills, with confidence creating and delivering compelling PowerPoint presentations.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to use market data and metrics to identify opportunities and support decisions.

Excellent report writing, record keeping and attention to detail.

Experience producing marketing or tender content.

Strong IT skills across Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The ability to manage multiple complex opportunities and priorities simultaneously.

A collaborative, proactive and engaging approach, with the confidence to influence and consult with prospective clients.

Knowledge of Salesforce and/or the nuclear industry would be advantageous, although the key requirement is a strong commercial mindset and demonstrable business development success.

    Why join?

This is an opportunity to play a genuinely important role in growing a specialist technical business, building relationships with key customers and helping shape the pipeline of future opportunities.

You'll have the opportunity to work across a technically challenging and highly regulated environment, collaborating with experienced commercial, technical and delivery teams while developing new markets and customer relationships.

If you're a commercially minded Business Development professional who enjoys opening doors, building relationships and converting opportunities into business, we'd love to hear from you.

Regular UK and overseas travel will be required.
