We are looking for a qualified teacher with experience teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4, including supporting pupils with GCSE exam preparation. You will be confident teaching a range of texts and helping pupils develop their reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills.
This role would suit a teacher who can lead purposeful classroom discussions, model effective written responses and give pupils the support they need to express their ideas clearly.
About the role
You will plan and deliver lessons that build pupils’ understanding of language and literature, from developing core literacy skills to analysing writers’ choices. You will support pupils of different abilities and help them approach GCSE assessments with greater confidence.
Your responsibilities will include:

Planning and delivering English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4.

Teaching fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama in line with the department’s curriculum.
*
Developing pupils’ comprehension, vocabulary and written accuracy.
*
Teaching pupils how to analyse language, structure and themes.
*
Modelling clear essay writing and supporting pupils to construct evidence based responses.
*
Preparing pupils for GCSE examinations through revision and exam technique practice.
*
Assessing work and providing constructive feedback with clear next steps.
*
Adapting lessons and resources for pupils with SEND and additional literacy needs.
*
Maintaining positive behaviour and consistent classroom expectations.
*
Working closely with the English department and support staff to monitor progress.
We are looking for:

QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
*
Experience teaching English in a secondary school.
*
Strong knowledge of the KS3 and GCSE English Language and Literature curriculum.
*
The ability to explain texts and concepts clearly to pupils of different abilities.
*
Confident classroom management and effective communication skills.
*
An organised approach to planning, marking and assessment.
*
A commitment to improving literacy and supporting pupils who need additional help.
*
The ability to work collaboratively and contribute to consistent teaching across the department.

Salary description
£150.00 - £250.00 per day
