How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Position: Document Controller
    Location: Birmingham
    Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 DOE
Working Arrangement: Office Based - Flexible Start / Finish Times
Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time or Part-time Considered

An established, design-led architectural practice is looking to appoint a Document Controller to join its Birmingham head office. The business employs approximately 94 people across three UK offices and delivers major projects across the Education and Higher Education sectors, including schools, university buildings, laboratories and healthcare-related facilities.

This is a newly created position designed to provide greater support to the practice's Architects and wider project teams as project information, quality assurance and regulatory requirements continue to increase. Rather than being limited to issuing drawings and maintaining document registers, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to become involved in QA, audits, Building Regulations, Principal Designer/CDM processes and wider practice compliance.

The practice is deliberately open-minded on background. The position could suit an experienced Document Controller from an Architecture, Construction or Engineering environment, but they would also consider a highly organised graduate or technically minded individual who can be developed into the position. Full-time and part-time applicants will be considered, including candidates looking for approximately three days per week.

    Document Controller Salary & Benefits

    Salary approximately £30,000 - £35,000 DOE.
Full-time or part-time working considered, including approximately 3 days per week.
37.5-hour working week for full-time employees.
25 days holiday which increases by 1 day per year after 5 years of service up to a maximum of 30 days
    Flexible start and finish times.
Pension scheme with employer contributions matched up to 5.5%, increasing with length of service.
    Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) structure.
Opportunity to develop beyond traditional Document Control into QA, Building Regulations and Principal Designer/CDM-related work.
Training provided on internal processes and systems.
    Long-term career development.
    Collaborative Birmingham studio environment.
