How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Drupal Technical Lead
    Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum
    Location: Birmingham – Hybrid
    Job Type: Permanent

    My client is looking for an experienced Drupal Technical Lead to join their web development team and take a leading role in the technical development and architecture of their Drupal-based web platforms.
    This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Drupal developer who enjoys solving complex problems, leading technical projects and supporting the development of other team members. The successful candidate will work across a range of high-profile web projects, helping to deliver secure, scalable and high-performing digital solutions.

    The Role
    As Drupal Technical Lead, the successful candidate will take ownership of the technical direction and development of enterprise-level Drupal applications. Working closely with stakeholders and the wider technical team, they will translate business requirements into robust technical solutions while maintaining high standards of development, security and accessibility.
    The role will also involve mentoring junior developers, carrying out code reviews and providing technical guidance across the team.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of enterprise-level Drupal applications
    Design and develop complex backend systems using PHP and Drupal 10+
    Develop modern front-end solutions using TypeScript, Twig and Tailwind CSS
    Ensure applications are secure, scalable, accessible and optimised for performance
    Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior developers
    Conduct code reviews and promote development best practices
    Work with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications
    Manage source control and deployment processes using Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions and Jenkins
    Utilise Composer, Drush and DDEV for dependency and development environment management
    Support SEO and web accessibility best practices
    Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation
    Contribute to an Agile development environment and continuous improvement of development processes
    About You
    My client is looking for someone with strong commercial experience in Drupal development, ideally with experience working on complex or enterprise-level platforms.
    You will have a strong technical background and be comfortable working across both backend and frontend development. You should also be confident providing technical leadership, mentoring colleagues and communicating technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    Strong professional experience in Drupal development
    Strong knowledge of Drupal 10+
    Excellent PHP development skills
    Experience using Composer and modern development pipelines
    Strong front-end development experience with Twig, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS
    Experience leading technical projects and/or mentoring developers
    Good understanding of web security best practices
    Experience with Git and modern CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins
    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    Experience with DevOps practices and Agile methodologies
    Experience with cloud hosting platforms such as AWS or Azure would be advantageous
    A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
    Relevant Drupal or web technology certifications would also be beneficial.
