How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer in Building Services (HV & LV Infrastructure)
    Location: Leeds
Rate: £45 per hour (Outside IR35)
    Duration: 6 months +
Are you a Senior Electrical Engineer looking to take the lead on major infrastructure and building services projects with significant grid connection requirements?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing engineering team delivering complex, high-value developments across sectors including Data Centres, Healthcare, Industrial & Logistics, Commercial Developments, Manufacturing Facilities, and Large-Scale Infrastructure Projects.
You'll play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of HV and LV electrical infrastructure, helping clients navigate grid connections, energy efficiency challenges, and future-proof power strategies while working on some of the UK's most ambitious developments.
    Why Apply?
This is more than a traditional building services role.
You'll be involved in projects where electrical infrastructure is critical to success, leading designs that connect large developments to the National Grid and ensuring power solutions are resilient, sustainable, and efficient.
Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll influence projects from concept through to construction, helping clients achieve their operational, energy, and sustainability goals.
    What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll take responsibility for electrical design delivery on complex construction projects, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and commercial viability throughout the project lifecycle.
    Your responsibilities will include:
·Leading the design of LV and HV electrical systems for large-scale developments
·Producing electrical designs, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
·Supporting grid connection applications and liaising with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and National Grid stakeholders
·Designing electrical infrastructure including substations, transformers, switchgear, standby generation, and power distribution systems
·Advising clients on power availability, load assessments, and future capacity requirements
·Supporting energy efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonisation initiatives across projects
·Coordinating electrical designs with mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural teams
·Managing technical interfaces between utility providers, contractors, and clients
·Undertaking site surveys and attending project meetings
·Reviewing contractor designs and technical submissions
·Identifying project risks and developing practical engineering solutions
·Supporting project delivery from feasibility through to construction and commissioning
    What You'll Bring
We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and working on major projects.
    You'll ideally have:
·Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification and industry experience
·Proven experience within Building Services or Electrical Infrastructure Design
·Strong knowledge of both HV and LV electrical systems
·Experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
·Understanding of National Grid and DNO connection processes and protocols
·Experience delivering electrical designs from concept through detailed design
·Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, protection and coordination studies
·Strong understanding of current regulations, standards, and design best practices
·Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams
·Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
·Commercial awareness and project delivery experience
    Desirable Experience
    The following would be beneficial:
·Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards Chartership
·Data Centre, Healthcare, Industrial, or Mission-Critical project experience
·Knowledge of renewable energy integration and battery storage systems
·Experience with energy modelling and power system analysis software
·Understanding of Net Zero and low-carbon design strategies
·Experience managing junior engineers and mentoring team members
    What's In It For You?
·Opportunity to lead major electrical infrastructure projects
·Work on large-scale developments with significant grid connection requirements
·Exposure to cutting-edge energy and power distribution technologies
    ·Genuine career progression opportunities
·Collaborative and technically driven engineering environment
    ·Diverse and challenging project portfolio
    ·Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
·Opportunity to influence sustainable and future-proof design solutions
    Ready for Your Next Challenge?
If you're a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong HV and LV design experience and want to work on complex projects that shape the future of infrastructure, healthcare, data centres, and industrial developments, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today and take the lead on projects powering the next generation of the built environment
