How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Speech & Language Teaching Assistant
    Barnet, North London
    £110-£120 per day
    Start Date: ASAP
    Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

    Do you have experience helping children find the confidence and tools to communicate?

    Long Term Futures is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with Autism (ASD) and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) at a welcoming junior school in Barnet.
    Communication will be central to this role. You'll help the pupil understand language, express their needs and develop their communication skills, while recognising how communication difficulties can also affect emotional regulation and classroom engagement.
    The Role

    Provide targeted 1:1 speech and language support
    Deliver communication activities and interventions
    Develop vocabulary, expressive and receptive language
    Break down instructions and allow appropriate processing time
    Use visual communication strategies to aid understanding
    Encourage conversation, social communication and interaction
    Help the pupil communicate emotions and needs before frustration builds
    Support emotional regulation using calm, consistent strategies
    Reinforce communication throughout Year 4 classroom learning
    Work alongside the teacher, SENCo and relevant specialistsWhat We're Looking For

    Experience supporting speech, language and communication needs
    Experience with Autism (ASD) is highly desirable
    Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, visual communication or SALT programmes would be advantageous
    Understanding of receptive and expressive language difficulties
    Patient and comfortable allowing children additional processing time
    Previous SEN or primary school experience preferred
    Psychology, Linguistics or Speech & Language graduates with relevant child-based experience are also encouraged to applyWhy Long Term Futures?
