How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.

    Job description

    Service & Installation Engineer

    * Dorking, Surrey

    * Up to £57.500 + Pension + Private Medical + 26+8 Bank Holidays + Xmas Shutdown

    * Monday – Friday – flexible working hours, 35 hours per week

    * Travel – up to 50% worldwide maximum

    Our Client is known throughout the world as a manufacturer of exceptional printing machinery.

    We are seeking an experienced Service & Installation Engineer to join a well-established engineering business based in Dorking, Surrey.

    The company has an excellent reputation for retaining its people, with employees staying for 30+ years, reflecting the supportive, flexible and long-term nature of the business.

    This is a varied, hands-on engineering position involving the installation, commissioning, servicing, fault finding and customer support of specialist machinery both at the company's site and at customer locations worldwide.

    The role will suit an engineer with a strong electrical bias, particularly someone with experience working on industrial machinery, control systems and electrical installations. Any experience with PLCs or industrial automation would be a significant advantage, although this is not essential.

    You will typically spend up to 50% of your working time away from home, travelling internationally to customer sites. Individual trips will normally be limited to a maximum of three weeks at a time.

    When based at the Dorking site, the company offers considerable flexibility around working hours, with 10:00 – 15:00 core hours and flexibility around these times.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    * Installation, commissioning and servicing of specialist machinery at customer sites.

    * Supporting the installation and build of new and existing machinery.

    * Electrical installation, wiring and control panel work.

    * Electrical & Mechanical fault finding, diagnosis and repair.

    * Commissioning machinery and associated electrical and mechanical systems.

    * Installation and testing of machine safety systems and associated electrical equipment.

    * Working with three-phase and single-phase electrical systems.

    * Working with analogue and digital control systems.

    * Installation, configuration and fault finding of inverter speed controls.

    * Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems where required.

    * Providing technical support to customers following installation and commissioning.

    * Customer training and technical assistance.

    * Supporting machine modifications, upgrades and improvements.

    * Completing installation and commissioning work to a high standard and in accordance with relevant procedures.

    * Working closely with engineering colleagues and customers to resolve technical issues.

    * Travelling worldwide to customer sites, potentially up to 50% of the working year.

    Requirements:

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    Proven experience working as a Service Engineer, Installation Engineer, Commissioning Engineer or similar within an industrial engineering environment.

    A strong electrical engineering bias with practical hands-on experience.

    Recognised electrical engineering qualifications such as City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent.

    Practical experience with industrial electrical systems and machinery.

    Experience fault finding on electrical and mechanical equipment.

    Good understanding of electrical control panels and industrial wiring.

    Experience working with three-phase and single-phase systems.

    Experience with inverter speed controls.

    Experience working with machinery installation and commissioning.

    A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving.

    The ability and willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis.

    The ability to work away from home for periods of up to three weeks at a time.

    Desirable (Not Essential):

    Previous experience working with specialist or special-purpose machinery.

    Experience within industrial automation or machine building.

    PLC programming or fault-finding experience.

    Experience with HMI or SCADA systems.

    Experience with AutoCAD or electrical drawings.

    Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

    18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.

    Previous experience working directly with customers.

    Previous international service or commissioning experience.

    PLC experience/ knowledge

    Additional Information:

    This is a customer-facing engineering position and will require regular international travel.

    The company is particularly open-minded regarding the background and experience of the successful candidate. The priority is finding a practical, reliable engineer with the right electrical foundation and attitude who can develop within the business.

    Security Clearance is a mandatory requirement for the position, and candidates must be able to successfully obtain the required level of clearance.

    The role involves working internationally, so candidates must have the unrestricted right to travel and work internationally as required by the position.
