How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fire Alarm & AOV Engineer

    Location: London & Home Counties

    Base: Erith, Kent

    Salary: Up to £45,000 DOE

    Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm

    We are recruiting for an experienced Fire Alarm & AOV Engineer to work across London and the Home Counties.

    The role involves servicing, maintaining, testing and fault-finding on fire alarm, AOV and smoke ventilation systems, primarily within large residential developments, communal areas and high-rise buildings.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Service and maintain fire alarm systems.

    • Fault-find and repair fire alarm and life-safety systems.

    • Service and test AOV systems, including control panels, actuators, vents and dampers.

    • Maintain car park smoke ventilation systems, including extract fans and jet fans.

    • Test interfaces between fire alarms, AOV, smoke ventilation, lifts, access control and dampers.

    • Attend reactive callouts and investigate faults.

    • Complete installation, upgrade and remedial works where required.

    • Work on Gent, Morley and similar fire alarm panels.

    • Complete service reports and technical documentation.

    • Identify defects and provide information for remedial works and quotations.

    • Liaise professionally with clients, managing agents, residents and contractors.

    Experience Required

    • Previous experience as a Fire Alarm Engineer.

    • Strong experience with AOV and smoke ventilation systems.

    • Experience with car park smoke ventilation and jet fan systems.

    • Experience working within residential, communal and high-rise buildings.

    • Experience with Gent, Morley or similar fire alarm panels.

    • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

    • Ability to read wiring diagrams, system drawings and cause & effect documentation.

    • Experience testing fire alarm and AOV interfaces.

    • Good communication and customer service skills.

    • Ability to work independently across London and the Home Counties.

    • Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable

    FIA qualifications, BS 5839 knowledge, BS 8629/AOV experience, smoke control experience, electrical qualifications and previous high-rise residential experience would all be advantageous.
