How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

    About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and organised Transport Planner to join a busy and growing transport operation in Aldridge.

This is a hands-on role where you will play an important part in ensuring vehicles and drivers are planned and coordinated efficiently, while keeping customer requirements and operational demands at the forefront.
You'll need to be someone who can think on your feet, stay calm under pressure and quickly find solutions when plans change. Strong communication skills and a good understanding of UK transport operations are essential.

    Key Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate daily transport operations and driver schedules.
Allocate vehicles and drivers efficiently to meet customer requirements.
Monitor transport movements and respond to operational changes throughout the day.
Liaise with drivers, customers and internal teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Manage delays, breakdowns and other operational issues, finding practical solutions quickly.
Monitor driver working hours and ensure compliance with drivers' hours regulations.
Ensure transport activities meet relevant legal and company requirements.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements, driver hours and transport activity.
Coordinate collections and deliveries, keeping customers updated on any changes.
Assist with vehicle and trailer availability and planning.
Work closely with the wider transport team to improve efficiency and minimise empty running.
Complete relevant transport administration, reporting and system updates. About You
We're looking for someone with previous experience in transport planning, logistics or a similar environment, who understands the pressures and challenges of coordinating vehicles and drivers on a daily basis.
    You will ideally have:

Experience within transport planning, logistics or haulage.
Good knowledge of UK transport operations and drivers' hours regulations.
Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
    Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
    Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    Excellent attention to detail.
Confidence using transport planning systems and Microsoft Office.
The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team. Desirable Experience
    The following would be advantageous:

Experience within HGV transport, haulage or a similar logistics environment.
Knowledge of fleet management and vehicle compliance.
    Experience using transport management/planning software.
Experience with Haulage Exchange, Amazon Relay or Qargo.
Previous experience working directly with HGV drivers and subcontractors.
A valid CPC qualification/licence. Why Join?
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to join a busy operation where your knowledge and decision-making skills will have a direct impact on the efficiency of the transport function.
A valid CPC qualification/licence would be highly advantageous and may place the successful candidate towards the upper end of the £33,000-£36,000 salary range.

If you have strong transport planning experience and are looking for your next long-term opportunity, we'd love to hear from you
