How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Passive Fire Technical & Compliance Manager
    Location: North West & North Wales
    Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Van + Bonus + Benefits

    The Opportunity

    This is a rare and genuinely exciting opportunity to join a well-established, multi-skilled contractor with 25 years in business and a growing passive fire protection division delivering works for some of the UK's most recognised names

    The business is BM TRADA approved for PFP installation. They are looking for a technically strong, detail-oriented professional to step into the role of technical lead and certifier — the subject matter expert on site who trains operatives, specifies products, signs off works and owns the paperwork and compliance process end to end.

    For the right person, there is also a clear route to head up a new standalone PFP business the company is planning to establish — making this a genuinely career-defining opportunity.

    Please note: some works are carried out on nuclear and regulated sites. Candidates must be eligible for BPSS clearance and SC clearance within six months of starting.

    The Role

    As Passive Fire Technical & Compliance Manager, you will act as the technical lead and certifier across compartmentation and fire stopping works, sitting within a well-structured site team alongside a Site Manager and Senior Contracts Manager. You will supervise works, carry out surveys, specify products, instruct and train operatives — a team of joiners and dry liners — on fire requirements and BM TRADA and FIRAS standards, and sign off and certify completed installations.

    A key part of this role is the accurate completion of spreadsheet-based compartmentation records and compliance documentation. Candidates must be confident, thorough and detail-oriented when it comes to paperwork — this is central to the position.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Act as the on-site technical lead and certifier for compartmentation and fire stopping works

    * Carry out surveys, specify appropriate tested and approved products and instruct operatives on installation requirements

    * Train and deliver toolbox talks to a team of joiners and dry liners on fire stopping requirements and BM TRADA and FIRAS standards

    * Sign off and certify completed compartmentation and fire stopping works

    * Manage installs and complete spreadsheet-based compartmentation records accurately and thoroughly

    * Oversee the full compliance documentation process — survey records, photographic evidence, product information, certificates and handover packs

    * Ensure all works comply with relevant legislation, recognised industry standards and manufacturer requirements

    What We're Looking For

    * Proven experience as a senior supervisor or manager within passive fire protection — compartmentation and fire stopping essential

    * Ability to certify compartmentation and fire stopping works — essential

    * Came up through the tools and has since moved into managing and overseeing installations — strongly preferred

    * Strong attention to detail with confident, thorough approach to paperwork, reporting and spreadsheets — essential

    * BM TRADA and FIRAS knowledge — essential

    * Fire door experience — essential

    * Eligibility for BPSS and SC security clearance — essential

    * Full UK Driving Licence — required

    What's On Offer

    * £50,000 – £60,000 per annum depending on experience

    * Company van

    * Annual bonus

    * Pension — 6% employer contribution

    * 21 days holiday rising to 23 after 5 years and up to 26 days

    * Investors in People accredited business

    * Supportive, people-focused culture — staff consulted and involved

    * Graduate scheme and ongoing professional development support
