How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    KS1 Class Teacher - Part-Time Maternity Cover

    Not every great teaching opportunity in the education and training sector needs to be full-time.

    Academics are currently recruiting an experienced KS1 Class Teacher for a part-time maternity cover position at a welcoming and supportive primary school.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who wants the consistency of having their own class and becoming part of a school community, without committing to a full five-day working week.

    The Opportunity

    As the school's KS1 Class Teacher, you will take responsibility for your class on your agreed working days, working closely with the wider teaching team to ensure consistency and continuity throughout the maternity cover period.

    The school is an established primary setting in Hemel Hempstead, with a supportive team and a strong focus on creating a positive, inclusive learning environment where pupils can thrive.

    We're looking for a teacher who can bring experience, enthusiasm and consistency to the classroom from day one.

    Pay: £171-£245 per day, depending on experience and responsibilities

    Who Would Suit This Role?

    We're particularly interested in hearing from an experienced KS1 Teacher who has a strong understanding of teaching and learning across Key Stage 1.

    You'll need to be confident in:

    Planning and delivering the KS1 curriculum
    Teaching phonics and supporting early reading
    Assessing pupil progress and identifying next steps
    Differentiating lessons to meet a range of learning needs
    Creating and maintaining positive classroom behaviour
    Working effectively with teaching assistants and colleagues
    Building positive relationships with pupils
