Week 2: 14:00 – 22:30 (42.5 hours per week)
On-call and standby rota – 1 in 4 weekends

Earning Potential – Salary:
£47,073 per annum basic
Standby: £25 per day/night
Call-out: £15 per call plus overtime at 1.5x hourly rate (minimum 2 hours paid, even if job ends sooner)
Realistic OTE: £52,000 – £58,000+
Overview
We're looking for an HGV Breakdown Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle specialist in Stoke. This is a proper breakdown role with a rotating shift pattern, standby payments, and call-out rates on top of a strong basic. Our client is a multi-accredited employer with high staff retention, manufacturer training, and genuine progression opportunities. Key Responsibilities
Responding to breakdowns and carrying out roadside repairs
Performing major and minor repairs to HGVs and commercial vehicles
Regular inspection and general preventive maintenance services
Diagnosing faults and completing repairs to manufacturer and DVSA standards
Maintaining workshop inventory and cleanliness
Working with repair teams to diagnose and plan vehicle repairs
Completing job cards and service records accuratelyWhat You'll Need
Level 3 qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or IMI) in HGV Vehicle Repair and Maintenance (essential)
Proven experience as an HGV Technician
Ability to identify worn and faulty components in accordance with DVSA Standards
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Full, current UK driving licence – HGV licence beneficial but not essential
