How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Belper & surrounding areas | From £100 per school day (8.30am - 3.30pm| Flexible & ongoing opportunities

Considering a career in teaching and want to gain real classroom experience first?

Supply Teach is looking for confident and enthusiastic graduates to work as Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Belper and the surrounding area.

This is a great opportunity to build hands-on school experience, develop your classroom management skills and find out whether teaching could be the right career for you — while being paid for the experience.

What does a Cover Supervisor do?

You’ll step into the classroom when a teacher is absent and ensure pupils can continue with work that has already been set.

    You’ll be responsible for:

    * Supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4

    * Delivering pre-prepared work and instructions

    * Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment

    * Supporting pupils to remain focused and engaged

    * Following individual school policies and expectations

You don't need to be a qualified teacher and you won't be expected to plan lessons or mark work.

    Who are we looking for?

This opportunity could be particularly suited to you if you are:

    * A graduate considering teaching or a career in education

    * Looking to gain experience before applying for teacher training

    * Confident communicating with groups of young people

    * Calm, adaptable and able to establish clear expectations

    * Reliable and comfortable working in different school environments

Experience with young people is helpful but doesn't necessarily need to have been gained in a school. Experience through sports coaching, tutoring, youth work, mentoring, summer camps or similar settings can all be relevant.

    Why work with Supply Teach?

Supply Teach is a local education recruitment agency working closely with schools across Derby and Derbyshire.

    You'll have:

    * Flexible work to fit around your availability

    * Opportunities in local secondary schools

    * A dedicated consultant who gets to know you and the type of work you're looking for

    * Support as you build your classroom experience

    * Opportunities for regular and longer-term placements

    * Experience that can support a future application for teacher training

Whether you're looking for a few flexible days or want to build consistent school experience, we'll work with you to find opportunities that suit you.

Apply today and we'll be in touch to talk through the role, your experience and the opportunities currently available around Belper.

Supply Teach is an equal opportunities employer and operates as an Employment Business in providing temporary or contract job-seeking services. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a successful Enhanced Disclosure, Barring Service (DBS) check and two professional references
