How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Cover Supervisor - Rochdale

    Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
    Pay: Up to £160 per day (dependent on experience)

    Aspire People is recruiting a versatile and confident Cover Supervisor for a specialist SEN school in Rochdale.

    This role involves providing short-term cover across a range of specialist classes supporting pupils with autism, complex communication needs, anxiety-related needs, severe learning difficulties, sensory needs and profound disabilities.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor, HLTA, Teaching Assistant or aspiring teacher looking to gain experience across a wide range of specialist educational provisions.

    You will deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher while maintaining a positive, safe and engaging learning environment.

    Due to the diverse needs of pupils across the school, flexibility and adaptability are essential. You must be confident supporting various age groups, abilities and communication needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    - Provide classroom cover across different specialist provisions
    - Deliver pre-prepared lessons and activities
    - Support pupils with autism, complex SEND and learning difficulties
    - Manage behaviour positively and consistently
    - Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and support staff
    - Ensure pupils remain engaged and on task
    - Maintain accurate handover notes for teaching staff
    - Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times

    Who We're Looking For

    - Experience working with children or young people
    - Confidence leading groups and managing classrooms
    - Experience within SEND, education, youth work or care settings
    - Strong communication and organisational skills
    - Adaptable and resilient approach
    - Genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

    Desirable Experience

    - Cover Supervisor experience
    - HLTA status
    - SEN school experience
    - Team Teach or similar de-escalation training
    - Experience supporting autism or complex needs
