How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Sutton, supporting post-16 students with complex learning needs, including SLD and PMLD.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and adaptable SEN Teacher to deliver engaging, personalised learning programmes that support students' communication, independence, wellbeing, life skills and preparation for adulthood.

    About the Role

    As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver highly personalised, differentiated and accessible learning experiences tailored to the individual needs, abilities, communication styles and aspirations of post-16 students with complex SEND.

    You will play an important role in helping young people develop the skills they need to become as independent as possible and prepare for life beyond school.

    Key Responsibilities

    As an SEN Teacher, you will:

    Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for post-16 students with complex SEN needs.
    Adapt teaching, resources and learning activities to meet individual abilities and learning styles.
    Support students with SLD, PMLD and additional complex needs to access learning and make meaningful progress.
    Develop personalised learning programmes linked to individual EHCP outcomes and targets.
    Focus on communication, independence, functional skills and preparation for adulthood.
    Provide opportunities for students to develop essential life skills, including personal care, independence and community participation where appropriate.
    Use practical, sensory and experiential learning approaches to engage students.
    Use appropriate communication strategies, visual supports and structured routines to support learning.
    Create a safe, nurturing, structured and inclusive learning environment.
    Support students with complex communication and sensory needs.
    Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement.
    Monitor, assess and record student progress, identifying appropriate next steps.
    Work closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist support staff to provide consistent and effective support.
    Contribute to EHCP reviews, individual learning plans and personalised targets.
    Build positive, trusting relationships with students and recognise individual achievements.
    Work collaboratively with parents/carers, colleagues and external professionals.
    Contribute to school meetings, training, professional development and the wider life of the school.
    About You

    The successful SEN Teacher will have:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
    Experience working with students with SEN and complex learning needs.
    Experience supporting students with SLD, PMLD and/or profound and complex needs is highly desirable.
    A strong understanding of personalised and inclusive teaching approaches.
    Excellent communication, classroom management and organisational skills.
    The ability to differentiate and adapt learning to meet a wide range of complex needs.
    A patient, calm, compassionate and resilient approach.
    The ability to build strong, positive and trusting relationships with young people.
    A creative and flexible approach to teaching and learning.
    An understanding of sensory, communication and physical needs.
    A commitment to developing students' independence, communication, wellbeing and life skills.
    A strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for every learner.
