How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Benfleet, Essex

    TeacherActive is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive specialist education setting in Benfleet.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

    As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to access their learning, develop their independence and build their confidence. You will work alongside teachers and other support staff to provide a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

    The Role

    As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities may include:

    Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs

    Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development

    Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities

    Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of individual learning plans

    Using positive behaviour-management strategies

    Encouraging independence, confidence and communication

    Supporting pupils with a range of SEND, which may include ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs

    Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals

    Maintaining a safe, positive and supportive learning environment

    The Ideal Candidate

    We are looking for someone who:

    Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND

    Has experience within a school, specialist provision, care or youth-work environment

    Is patient, compassionate and resilient

    Has strong communication and relationship-building skills

    Can remain calm and positive when supporting pupils with additional or complex needs

    Is reliable, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team

    Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential

    Relevant qualifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Health & Social Care or SEND would be beneficial but are not essential for candidates with suitable experience.
