How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Bid Writer / Remote Working (1 day a month in Derby)

Bid Solutions is recruiting a Bid Writer on behalf of a well-established independent charity delivering advice, health and legal services across the East Midlands and West Midlands, with national remote services too.

Our client's funding team has a strong track record of winning bids that keep vital services running for thousands of people across the region. With continued growth, they're now looking for a Bid Writer with around 3 years' experience to join that team and build a career in public sector tendering.

    The Bid Writer Role:

You'll work closely with an experienced Proposal Manager and the wider bid team, contributing to larger submissions and managing smaller ones independently, while developing your expertise in commissioning, service design and competitive tendering.

    Day to day, you'll:

    *

Write, edit and improve tender responses and supporting documents

    *

Develop clear, persuasive content that demonstrates impact and outcomes

    *

Produce supporting materials such as case studies and summaries

    *

Work with colleagues across operations, finance and partnerships to gather information and translate it into structured written responses

    *

Support coordination of tenders, timelines and requirements, and manage submission and record-keeping

    *

Research funders, services and local need to strengthen bid content

    *

Support joint bids with partner organisations

    About you

    Essential

    *

Around 3 years' experience in bid writing

    *

A track record contributing to or supporting high-quality submissions (bids, tenders, or funding applications)

    *

Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills

    *

Able to distil complex information into clear, concise responses

    *

Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

    *

    Comfortable collaborating across teams

    *

    Proficient in Microsoft Office

    Desirable

    *

Experience of public sector tendering or commissioning

    *

Knowledge of health, social care, advice or community services

    *

Experience in or with the voluntary sector

    *

APMP Foundation (or willingness to work towards it)
