How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Clements Young is recruiting a Projects Coordinator on behalf of an established independent fire and security specialist based in Newmarket, Cambridgeshire.
This is a varied role with responsibility for coordinating and delivering fire and security projects from estimating through to completion and handover. You will work closely with the Projects Manager, clients, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to keep projects on programme, within budget and to the required quality and safety standards.
The position combines an office base with site surveys and project meetings. It would suit someone with fire and security industry knowledge, commercial awareness and experience in estimating or project delivery who is ready to take ownership of a broad range of project responsibilities.

    Key responsibilities

    * Support estimating and coordinate project delivery from order through to testing, commissioning and handover.

    * Attend site surveys and contract meetings, liaising with clients on scope, technical queries, programme and phasing.

    * Plan labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor requirements to meet project deadlines.

    * Assess supplier and subcontractor proposals, negotiate costs and coordinate orders within agreed budgets.

    * Oversee engineers and subcontractors, monitoring workmanship, progress and compliance with specifications.

    * Monitor labour and material costs, report variances and assist with forecasts, project accounts, payment applications and subcontractor accounts.

    * Ensure health and safety procedures are implemented at site level.

    * Coordinate testing, commissioning and client demonstrations, and arrange operating and maintenance manuals, as-installed drawings and handover documentation.

    * Maintain accurate project records and clear communication with clients and colleagues.

    Skills and experience

    * Technical knowledge of fire and security alarm systems from a range of manufacturers.

    * In-depth knowledge of relevant fire and life safety regulations.

    * Knowledge of associated systems, including voice alarms, CCTV and access control.

    * Commercial awareness within the fire and security or electrical industry, with the ability to manage costs and work within budgets.

    * Proven estimating experience is desirable.

    * Strong organisation and time management, with the ability to manage several priorities and meet deadlines.

    * Confident written and verbal communication and a professional approach to client relationships.

    * Competent use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Salary and benefits

    * £35,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on industry experience.

    * 23 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.

    * Company pension and health cash plan.

    * Company car, mobile phone and laptop
