How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

    Job description

    Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
    Hours: Monday to Friday, rotating shifts of 6:00am2:00pm and 2:00pm10:00pm

    V3 Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Injection Mould Setter Technician to join our established manufacturing client based in Waterlooville.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced injection moulding professional to join a busy manufacturing environment where you will play a key role in ensuring efficient, safe and high-quality production.

    The Role

    As an Injection Mould Setter Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient setup of injection moulding machines, tooling and associated ancillary equipment. You will also be involved in fault finding, process optimisation and continuous improvement to maximise machine performance, quality and production efficiency.

    You will work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and Development teams to ensure processes remain stable and production targets are achieved.

    Key Responsibilities
    Safely load and unload injection moulding tools and equipment.
    Set production tooling and ancillary equipment in line with approved/master settings.
    Carry out efficient tool changes to meet agreed production KPIs.
    Plan and prepare upcoming production jobs to optimise changeover times.
    Ensure effective handovers between setup and production teams.
    Monitor injection moulding processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and OEE.
    Carry out fault finding and structured problem solving to resolve production issues.
    Investigate process issues and work with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
    Monitor and maintain production records to ensure processes remain within agreed parameters.
    Support reject escalation procedures and report equipment or process issues appropriately.
    Assist with new product introduction (NPI), trials and development activities.
    Share technical knowledge and contribute to best practice and standardised working methods.
    Carry out routine maintenance on equipment where required.
    Raise requests for tooling and equipment repairs or improvements.
    Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve cost, quality and production performance.
    Maintain excellent housekeeping and cleanliness standards.
    Promote a positive team environment and support colleagues where required.
    Provide cover on machines during breaks when necessary.
    About You

    The successful candidate will have solid experience within injection moulding, ideally with experience of setting and optimising injection moulding processes.

    You will ideally have:

    NVQ Level 3, Level 3 PTIC or equivalent qualification in Injection Moulding, Engineering or Manufacturing.
    Strong practical knowledge of injection moulding processes.
    Experience setting injection moulding machines and associated equipment.
    Knowledge of injection moulding tooling and mould setup.
    Knowledge of injection moulding ancillary equipment, including robots, hot runner systems and mould heaters.
    Good understanding of material processing and processing temperatures.
    Experience of fault finding and structured problem solving.
    Knowledge of process monitoring and optimisation.
    Experience working to defined production and quality standards.
    A strong understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
    Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
    The ability to work effectively as part of a wider production and engineering team.
    Desirable Experience

    The following would also be advantageous:

    Completed apprenticeship in a relevant engineering or manufacturing discipline.
    AIM / Advanced Injection Moulding qualification.
    Process Technician training.
    Experience with scientific moulding or Design of Experiments (DOE).
    Knowledge of gate freeze studies and residence time calculations.
    Knowledge of projected clamp tonnage calculations.
    Experience supporting NPI, trials or process development.
