How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Russell James Recruitment is recruiting an R&D Lead – Electrical for a global leader in electrification, based near Nottingham. This is a senior technical leadership role heading up the Electrical Design competency across the EMEA region.

    The role

    You will lead R&D operations to deliver agreed targets, strengthen the business's market position and support global R&D management on technology and footprint strategy – while building strong, trust-based links with other R&D sites.

    What you'll do

    * Lead Electrical Design across EMEA: technical strategy, engineering standards, capability development and objectives

    * Lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams with the right skills and capacity

    * Drive development of surge protection, earthing, lightning protection and sensor-enabled products

    * Provide technical leadership on complex problems, failure analysis, risk reduction and design governance

    * Oversee the Electrical Laboratory, including test capability and certification readiness

    * Build technology roadmaps aligned to customers, market trends and business priorities

    * Act as the senior technical authority for electrical engineering across the region

    What you'll bring

    * Degree (BSc/MSc) in Electrical, Power, High-Voltage Engineering, Electronics or similar

    * 10+ years in electrical product or system development – electrical distribution, industrial controls, protection, grounding, surge protection or related

    * Strong knowledge of product/system architecture, insulation coordination, electrical stress analysis, thermal performance and EMC

    * Experience leading engineering teams across multiple sites and stakeholders

    * Knowledge of IEC, EN, UL, CSA, IEEE and related standards and certification

    * Hands-on experience of testing, validation, type-test preparation and design verification

    * Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder skills, and fluent English

    The package

    Salary up to £85,000 plus car, bonus and a strong benefits package.
