How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you a recent graduate or someone looking to take your first step into a career in digital communications, website design, or digital marketing?

    The Combined Authority is looking for a motivated and creative Digital Communications Assistant to join its Communications Team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the digital presence of the Combined Authority.

    As a Digital Communications Assistant, you will play a key role in the development, maintenance, and optimisation of the Combined Authority's digital platforms. Working closely with communications and digital teams, you will help create engaging, user-friendly web experiences that support organisational priorities and increase public awareness of the work delivered by the Combined Authority. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or aspiring digital professional to gain hands-on experience in website development and content management.

    What You'll Be Doing

    As a Digital Communications Assistant, you will:

    Support the day-to-day maintenance and development of the websites.
    Create and publish engaging content across websites.
    Help deliver digital communications campaigns aligned with organisational priorities.
    Repurpose and adapt content for different audiences and digital platforms.
    Support the optimisation of web pages and landing pages to improve user experience and engagement.
    Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to provide digital communications support and creative input.
    What We're Looking For

    You will ideally have:

    Experience updating websites through a Content Management System (CMS), either through work experience, education, volunteering, or personal projects.
    An understanding of what makes an effective website and landing page.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    Excellent attention to detail and proofreading ability.
    Good organisational and time management skills.
    Creative thinking and visual flair.
    The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
    Experience engaging with a range of stakeholders, including members of the public and partner organisations.
