How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Technical Design Engineer

    Location: Nottinghamshire
    Employment: Full-time, Monday–Friday
    Working Arrangement: Fully in-person
    Salary: £38,000 per annum

    The Role

    We are working with a client who is recruiting for an experienced and proactive Senior Technical Design Engineer to join their growing Design and Technical team, offering a varied role combining strong practical mechanical knowledge with electrical systems, controls and technical design. You will take ownership of design activities including mechanical design, drawings, schematics, BOMs and technical documentation, while supporting R&D projects, bespoke customer solutions and new product development within the growing water reuse and water management technology sector.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support the Design Team Leader with the day-to-day running of the Design and Technical team.

    * Take ownership of mechanical and electrical design activities from concept through to manufacture and testing.

    * Produce and review 3D models, engineering drawings, schematics and BOMs.

    * Provide technical support to Sales, Operations, Engineering and Production.

    * Support R&D, new product development and bespoke customer solutions.

    * Review technical drawings, manuals and engineering documentation.

    * Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the Design Team.

    * Act as a key point of contact for technical queries across the business.

    * Support engineering problem-solving, fault-finding and practical testing.

    * Maintain and improve engineering parts, BOMs and product structures.

    * Support and mentor other members of the technical team where required.

    About You

    * 2–3+ years' experience in a technical engineering/design role.

    * Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally SolidWorks.

    * Strong practical mechanical engineering knowledge.

    * Good understanding of electrical systems, controls and technical design.

    * Experience with 2D drawings and BOMs.

    * Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical and control schematics.

    * Strong problem-solving and practical engineering skills.

    * Proactive, self-motivated and confident taking ownership.

    * Strong communication and organisational skills.

    * Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities.

    * Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe packages.
