How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SHEQ & Compliance Advisor
Altera Recruitment Group is supporting a growing water industry MEICA contractor in Hampshire in the appointment of a SHEQ & Compliance Advisor, covering sites across Hampshire and the Thames Valley.
The business delivers mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation work on water and wastewater sites, and has reached the stage where it needs a dedicated SHEQ resource. The SHEQ & Compliance Advisor will look after the ISO management systems, audit and inspect sites, train the workforce and drive the company's digital SHEQ system.
The role would suit a junior SHEQ coordinator or an experienced SHEQ Advisor who wants to gain experience with a growing, progressive company. Water industry experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities of the SHEQ & Compliance Advisor
    * Maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, including procedures, records, corrective actions and legal compliance registers.
    * Carrying out internal audits and supporting external certification audits.
    * Undertaking site health and safety audits and inspections across water and wastewater sites, including behavioural safety observations and checks on RAMS and permits.
    * Assisting with accident, incident and near miss investigations and monitoring the close out of corrective actions.
    * Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings, CDM 2015 awareness training and inductions, and keeping training records up to date.
    * Acting as SiteMate administrator: building digital forms and workflows, training office and site staff and producing monthly SHEQ performance reports.
    * Supporting environmental compliance, client SHEQ meetings and framework requirements, and Principal Contractor and Principal Designer duties where applicable.
    Candidate Requirements
    * A minimum of 3 years SHEQ experience, ideally within the UK water industry.
    * Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
    * Experience conducting site audits and inspections.
    * Experience delivering toolbox talks and training, with knowledge of CDM 2015.
    * Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and SiteMate or similar systems.
    * A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites throughout the South of England.
    What's on Offer
    * Salary of £30,000 to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
    * Full time, permanent role.
    * Hybrid working: one to two days in the Hampshire office, at least two days on site across Hampshire and the Thames Valley, and one day from home.
    * The chance to gain experience and progress with a growing, progressive water industry business.
If you are a SHEQ Advisor or junior SHEQ coordinator looking to gain experience with a growing, progressive company, please apply with your most up to date CV
