How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Projects

Projects will typically include storm tanks, combined sewer overflows (CSOs), pumping stations and water treatment upgrades, with schemes generally valued from £5m upwards.

    Typical packages of work include:

    *

Shaft sinking, deep excavations and drainage

    *

    *

    Permanent and temporary works

    *

    Concrete and associated civils packages

Projects are located throughout the Yorkshire Water region, with current and upcoming schemes across Barnsley, Sheffield, Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds and surrounding areas.

    The Role

As Project Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of Civil Engineering projects from pre-construction and site setup through to completion and handover.

You will lead the site delivery team, working closely with Site Agents, Site Managers, Engineers, commercial teams and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

A key part of the role will involve maintaining a strong relationship with Yorkshire Water and other project stakeholders, while ensuring contractual and commercial matters are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    *

Overall management and delivery of water infrastructure projects

    *

Leading Site Agents, Site Managers, Engineers and subcontractors

    *

Managing programmes, key milestones and delivery targets

    *

Monitoring project performance, costs, progress and commercial performance

    *

Managing NEC contractual matters, including Early Warnings and Compensation Events

    *

Client and stakeholder liaison, including Yorkshire Water

    *

Chairing progress meetings and project reviews

    *

Ensuring health, safety, environmental and quality standards are maintained

    *

Reviewing RAMS, construction methodologies and project documentation

    *

Identifying project risks and implementing mitigation measures

    *

Producing progress reports for senior management and the client

    *

Overseeing project completion, commissioning and handover

    About You

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in heavy Civil Engineering, water or utilities infrastructure.

You should have a proven track record of taking overall responsibility for substantial Civil Engineering projects, ideally involving deep drainage, excavations, reinforced concrete, temporary works and complex water infrastructure.

Previous experience delivering projects within the UK water sector would be particularly advantageous.

    *

Experience managing Early Warnings and Compensation Events

    *

Previous water industry experience – highly advantageous

    *

HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent construction / Civil Engineering qualification – beneficial

    *

    SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid

    *

    Full UK Driving Licence
