How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Catering and Teaching Assistant
    Hybrid Role Starting ASAP
    Alternative Provision
    Burton on Trent (DE11)
    £100-£115 per day
    Must be able to Drive
    Full-Time Role | 37 hours per week | 8:10am-3:50pm | Mon-Fri
    Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle and business insurance.

    Overview:
    As a Catering Assistant with Teaching Assistant responsibilities, you will play an important role in both the day-to-day catering provision and supporting pupils across the school. You will assist with the preparation and distribution of breakfast, break-time snacks and lunch, with minimal food preparation required as meals are delivered from another site, while ensuring the catering area remains clean, safe and well organised. Alongside this, you will support pupils within the classroom, particularly during practical food technology and catering sessions, helping with cooking activities, food preparation skills, engagement, behaviour and employability-focused learning. You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support pupils' wider development and daily routines.

    About You:

    Must have a car to fetch the food from a local school and bring to the school.
    Experience working with young people or within a school, SEN, or Alternative Provision setting (desirable)
    Comfortable working in both catering and classroom environments
    A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
    Strong teamwork and communication skills
    Willingness to support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
    Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain)
