About the Role
Teach in a setting where every step forward matters. Teach Now is recruiting for two Class Teacher opportunities at a supportive specialist school in Hertfordshire, catering for pupils aged 2–19 with complex learning and communication needs.
Permanent role – transition class: Lead a class of five pupils aged 6–7, shaping learning around individual strengths and goals. Help pupils build communication, confidence and independence as they prepare for their next educational stage.
Maternity cover – primary class: Teach around ten pupils aged 5–6, adapting lessons and communication to support learning and emotional regulation. An earlier start may allow you to shadow the current teacher and receive a thorough handover. A permanent opportunity may be considered afterwards, depending on staffing needs and suitability.
In either role, you will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals. This is an opportunity for a patient, resilient teacher who values trusting relationships, treats every pupil with dignity and recognises progress in all its forms.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver and assess personalised learning, setting appropriate goals for each pupil.
Develop communication, independence and social skills through everyday activities.
Create a calm, structured classroom with consistent behaviour and emotional regulation support.
Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals.
Monitor progress and share clear updates with colleagues and families.
Requirements
UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), including QTS awarded through recognition of an overseas teaching qualification.
Previous teaching experience in a UK school.
Experience planning, delivering and assessing differentiated learning.
Strong classroom management, communication and teamwork skills, with an adaptable approach to pupils needs.
