Responsibilities

Lead and manage SHEQ activities across highways and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with company requirements and relevant legislation.
*
Develop, implement and maintain SHEQ policies, procedures, management systems and improvement plans.
*
Carry out site inspections, audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
*
Provide guidance on RAMS, safe systems of work, environmental requirements and quality standards.
*
Monitor SHEQ performance and produce reports, statistics and management information.
*
Lead and support investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformances, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
*
Deliver SHEQ training, toolbox talks, briefings and awareness initiatives to site and operational teams.
*
Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, pollution prevention and sustainability requirements.
*
Support quality assurance activities, inspections, documentation and management of non-conformances.
*
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders on SHEQ matters.
*
Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant UK legislation, industry standards and best practice.
*
Promote a positive SHEQ culture and support continuous improvement across the business.
The Ideal Candidate
*
Previous experience working as a SHEQ Manager, QESH Manager, HSEQ Manager or similar within highways, civils, infrastructure or construction.
*
Strong knowledge of UK health and safety, environmental and quality legislation and management systems.
*
Previous highways or infrastructure experience is highly desirable.
*
NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification; environmental or quality qualifications would be advantageous.
*
Good working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
*
Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
*
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with site and management teams.
*
Highly organised, analytical and proactive, with a strong focus on compliance and continuous improvement.
*
Ability to work independently while managing SHEQ requirements across multiple projects
Salary description
£50000.00 - £65000.00 per year
