How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Tempest Photography (H. Tempest Ltd) is a UK-wide, family-owned business specialising in portrait and group photographs for the Education sector; schools, colleges and universities, but also for UK’s uniformed services.
The company’s head office and production facility is based near the picturesque town of St Ives in Cornwall, and is staffed by more than 300 employees. The company employs around 300 photographers throughout the UK.
We’re looking for a confident, hands-on and energetic Staging Assistant to join our Large Group (Rig) team.
You’ll spend your days visiting schools and colleges, helping to set up staging and coordinate large groups (ranging from 50 to 600 pupils and staff).
This is not a traditional photography role. It’s a physical position that requires reliability, teamwork, organisation, and people skills.
    Key responsibilities include:
    * Assisting with the building and dismantling of large staging structures (often once, sometimes twice per day)
    * Helping organise and guide large groups safely onto the staging
    * Sharing driving duties and travelling to locations (often early starts and occasional overnight stays)
    * Supporting the photographer with equipment handling and logistics
    * Maintaining a friendly, professional rapport with school staff and students
    * Following strict health and safety procedures
    Working Pattern
This is a full-time, salaried role aligned to the school calendar:
    * Work is concentrated around school term time
    * There are quieter periods with little or no photography between November–January, and no work in July, although additional work may be available within our Graduations division.
    * During busy periods, the role is intensive, involving early starts, travel, and physically demanding work
    About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
    * Physically fit and comfortable with manual, active work
    * Able to assist directing children and adults on to, and off our staging
    * Adaptable, reliable, and happy with early starts and travel
    * A strong team player with a positive attitude
    Essential requirements:
    * Full, clean UK driving licence
    * Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required
    * Ability to work flexible hours during term time
    * Willingness to undergo a DBS check
    * Able to provide two references
