How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary and Hours
    * £28,000 - £40,000, dependant on experience
    * 40 hours per week, with an earlier finish on Friday’s
    * 28 days holiday, which increases with service
    Role Overview / Focus
    A hands-on role focused on product and software verification testing, supporting the development of manufacturing test equipment, and diagnosing and repairing faulty PCBs from production failures and returned products (RMAs).
    R&D Test Technician Candidate Key Requirements
    * HNC/HND or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or another STEM discipline.
    * Hands-on electronics experience, including PCB testing, soldering/rework, cable harness assembly and fault diagnosis.
    * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose faults and learn new technologies quickly.
    * Interest in IoT, connected devices and device-to-cloud communications, with the ability to work across both hardware and software testing.
    * Organised and self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities, work independently and build effective relationships across the business.
    R&D Test Technician Key Responsibilities
    * Assemble prototypes, test harnesses and jigs, and carry out design validation, environmental chamber, EMC, ESD and functional software testing of products and applications.
    * Document test results and report findings to Design Engineers; assist with integration testing between company devices and backend systems.
    * Process RMAs, diagnose and repair faults, categorise failures, produce work instructions and rework quality assurance (QA) end-of-line (EOL) failures.
    * Liaise with suppliers on specifications and technical documentation for outsourced test equipment, while maintaining professional standards and adhering to company procedures.
