How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and experienced Head of Maths to join a successful secondary school in Buckinghamshire from January 2027.

    The successful candidate will take strategic and operational leadership of the Maths department, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to drive high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.

    January 2027 Start | Full-Time | Permanent

    Salary: Teacher main/upper scale + TLR

    The Role

    As Head of Maths, you will lead and develop the Maths department, ensuring that students receive an engaging, challenging and consistently high-quality Maths education from KS3 through to KS5.

    You will have responsibility for the line management of Maths teachers, supporting staff development, monitoring teaching and learning, and creating a positive and collaborative departmental culture.

    A key focus of the role will be to raise attainment and improve outcomes across KS3, KS4 and KS5, using data, assessment and effective intervention strategies to identify areas for improvement and ensure all students are supported to achieve their potential.

    You will work closely with SLT to contribute to the wider academic development of the school and play an important role in shaping the future direction of the Maths curriculum.

    The Ideal Candidate

    The school is looking for an ambitious, passionate and inspirational Maths teacher who is ready to take the next step in their leadership career.

    You will ideally have previous experience of leading a Maths department or hold significant responsibility within a secondary school. However, an exceptional and experienced Maths teacher with a strong track record of improving outcomes and developing colleagues will also be considered.

    You will need to demonstrate:

    Strong subject knowledge across KS3-KS5.
    A proven ability to raise student attainment and progress.
    Strong leadership and people-management skills.
    The ability to inspire and develop teaching staff.
    Excellent communication and organisational skills.
    A commitment to high expectations and continuous improvement.
