How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Diagnose complex mechanical faults and conduct root-cause failure analysis.

Complete high-quality machinery overhauls within a fully equipped workshop environment.

Use precision measuring equipment including micrometres, verniers and dial test indicators.

Carry out shaft alignment checks and use contact blue checking techniques.

Correctly remove and install precision high-speed bearings and mechanical sealing systems.

Attend customer sites for installations, commissioning, servicing and breakdown support.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, cross-sectional schematics and manufacturer manuals.

Communicate confidently with customers, explaining technical issues and required repairs.

What Are We Looking For?We're looking for somebody who is technically strong, takes pride in their work and genuinely enjoys investigating how and why machinery has failed.

    Ideally, you will have:

A minimum of 5 years' experience within a relevant industrial engineering environment.

    Extensive hands-on mechanical fitting experience.

Strong experience stripping, inspecting, repairing and rebuilding industrial machinery.

Previous experience working with rotating and/or vibratory equipment.

Excellent mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities.

Confidence working to fine tolerances using precision measuring equipment.

Experience working across both workshop and field-service environments.

A strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation.

The ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

    Excellent health and safety awareness.

Strong communication skills and the confidence to represent the business professionally at customer sites.

QualificationsCandidates should be time-served and fully qualified as a Mechanical Fitter/Technician, ideally holding a City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or Maintenance, or an equivalent qualification.

An ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering would be highly desirable, although strong practical experience will be heavily valued.

A full, clean UK driving licence is essential due to the field-service element of the position.

Additional qualifications such as Confined Space, Working at Heights, FLT or Slinging & Lifting would also be advantageous.

    What's in It for You?
Permanent opportunity with a specialist engineering business.

Overtime opportunities through onsite and breakdown support.

Company service van for site work.

    Paid business travel.

Fully paid accommodation for overnight stays.

    Ongoing training and development.

A genuinely varied role combining workshop engineering, field service, diagnostics and precision mechanical fitting.
