How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Fire Stopper

    Agency: Search Consultancy

    Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

    Search Consultancy is looking for a skilled, experienced Passive Fire Protection Operative / Fire Stopper for an active commercial project in Newcastle. We are partnering with an established main contractor requiring an operative with strong expertise in batt and mastic systems to carry out critical penetration sealing across the site.

    If you have a proven track record in passive fire stopping, a valid CSCS card, and take pride in fully compliant installation, we have an immediate start available now.

    The Role

    Batt & Mastic Installation: Cutting, fitting, and sealing coated mineral wool batt systems around structural openings, pipework, and duct penetrations.

    Fire Sealing: Applying intumescent mastic, silicone sealants, and fire-rated compounds to ensure full acoustic and fire integrity to precise manufacturer specifications.

    Compliance & Recording: Ensuring all installed penetration seals strictly adhere to FIRAS/BM TRADA guidelines and site safety standards.

    Site Preparation: Cleaning and preparing substrates, openings, and services prior to applying fire-stopping seals.

    Requirements

    CSCS Card: Valid CSCS Card (Fire Stopper / NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection preferred).

    Experience: Proven experience in commercial batt and mastic fire-stopping applications.

    Tools & Kit: Full personal hand tools (mastic guns, battery tools, knives, measuring equipment) and standard 5-point PPE.

    Reliability: Keen eye for detail, reliable attendance, and commitment to compliant workmanship.

    Right to Work: Must have a valid right to work in the UK.
