How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Multi-Trade (Social Housing)

A leading national property services and maintenance contractor is currently looking to recruit several experienced Multi-Trade Operatives to join an established and long-term social housing maintenance contract.

    Position: Multi-Trade

    Location: Wolverhampton or Sandwell

Salary: £36,982 per annum + Van & fuel card + package

    Contract Type: Permanent

    Start date: Immediately available

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced tradespeople with a strong plastering background who are looking to secure a permanent position with a well-established organisation. The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out responsive repairs and general property maintenance across a large portfolio of occupied residential properties. The role offers long-term stability, a strong benefits package and genuine opportunities for training and career progression.

    The Role:

As a Multi-Trade Operative, you will be responsible for attending residential properties to diagnose and complete a wide variety of responsive repairs. You will primarily utilise your plastering skills, while your ability to undertake additional trades such as plumbing, carpentry and general maintenance will allow you to deal with a broader range of repair requirements.

Working within occupied homes, you will regularly interact with residents, making strong communication and customer service skills just as important as your technical ability.
You will be expected to take ownership of jobs from initial diagnosis through to completion, ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while minimising disruption to residents.
The organisation uses modern digital job management systems, with operatives receiving and updating work instructions through PDA/mobile technology.

    Key Responsibilities:

Undertake general responsive repairs and maintenance within occupied residential properties.
Undertake basic carpentry and joinery repairs.
Carry out a wide range of plastering repairs, including making good, patch repairs, damaged plasterwork and associated preparation and finishing.
Carry out making-good works following plumbing, electrical or other maintenance activities.
Complete general property maintenance tasks as required.
Attend appointments and communicate professionally with residents and customers.
Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment within residents' homes.
Ensure all repairs are completed to the required quality standards and within agreed timescales.
Accurately record completed works, materials and job information using PDA/mobile systems.
Comply with all company health & safety procedures, policies and relevant legislation.
Work independently while also contributing positively to the wider repairs and maintenance team.

    About You:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Multi-Trade Operative, Carpenter, Plasterer, Maintenance Operative or Property Repairs Operative with a strong background in responsive repairs.
Previous experience working within social housing, local authority housing, property maintenance or occupied residential environments would be highly advantageous.
Additional skills in plumbing and/or carpentry.
Experience carrying out responsive repairs within occupied properties.
Good knowledge of general building maintenance.
A full UK manual driving licence with no more than six points.
    Asbestos Awareness certification.
    CSCS card preferred.
DBS clearance, or willingness to undergo the required checks.

    Package & Benefits:

The successful candidates will receive a competitive package, including:

Company van and fuel card for work-related use.
25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
    Ongoing training and development opportunities.
Support towards additional qualifications and skills development.
Genuine opportunities for internal progression and promotion.
The security of working for an established national property services organisation.
