How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Isaac Gracie is recruiting an experienced HR Manager on behalf of Semefab, a semiconductor manufacturing business based in Glenrothes, Fife. Established in 1986 and marking 40 years in business, they combine a strong track record in specialist manufacturing with opportunities for continued development and growth.

Operating two wafer fabrication facilities from their Glenrothes site, Semefab manufactures semiconductor devices, integrated circuits and miniature sensors used across the automotive, medical, industrial, energy, security and consumer markets. Their teams support customers from product and process development through to manufacturing, combining specialist engineering expertise with precision production.

Employing approximately 85 people, Semefab offers a close-knit, supportive working environment where relationships matter and individuals can make a meaningful contribution.

With their current HR Manager approaching retirement, they are looking for an experienced HR professional to join in or around February 2027, allowing time for a structured handover. This is an opportunity to build on a strong foundation, bring fresh ideas and shape the HR function as the business continues to develop.

    The role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will take ownership of HR across the business. As their sole HR professional, you will combine practical, day-to-day support with opportunities to improve processes and contribute to longer-term people planning.

Building trusted relationships with managers and employees will be central to your success. You will provide clear, pragmatic advice, support good decision-making and have the confidence to constructively challenge when needed.

    * Providing advice and support across a broad range of HR and employee relations matters.

    * Supporting managers with recruitment, performance management, absence and employee development.

    * Maintaining and improving HR policies, processes and records within a paperless working environment.

    * Working with the leadership team to understand and plan for future people requirements.

    * Identifying and implementing improvements to the way HR supports the business.

    * Supporting a positive workplace culture through clear communication and consistent, fair approaches.

    About you

You will be an experienced HR generalist who is comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for the HR function. Experience within manufacturing, engineering, technology or a similar SME environment would be valuable.

Semefab places particular importance on practical experience, sound judgement and the ability to earn the trust of managers and employees. A CIPD qualification is welcome but is not essential.

    * Strong generalist HR experience and confidence advising managers.

    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

    * A practical, adaptable approach to resolving issues.

    * Discretion, credibility and sound judgement.

    * The confidence to advise and constructively challenge managers.

    * Good IT skills and confidence working with digital systems.

    * The initiative to introduce improvements while recognising what already works well.

    Why join Semefab

Their leadership team is supportive and collaborative, and the incoming HR Manager will have the freedom to contribute ideas and make a visible difference.

You will join a profitable, evolving business with a close-knit culture and the opportunity to shape how HR supports its future. As the business grows, there may also be scope to recruit and manage an HR assistant.

    * Monday to Thursday, 7.30am–4pm, with a 1pm finish on Fridays.

    * Hybrid flexibility, with regular on-site attendance, is important for supporting employees and building relationships.

    * A planned handover with the current HR Manager.

    * Direct access to the CEO and a supportive leadership team.

    * The opportunity to take ownership of HR and introduce meaningful improvements.

    * Four charity days and a business that supports charitable initiatives
