How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Production Supervisor - Food Manufacturing

    Location: Rochester
    Salary: £50,000-£55,000, depending on experience
    Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6am-6pm
    Contract: Permanent

We’re recruiting a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead a team of eight operators within an established food manufacturing business in Rochester.

This is an opportunity for a technically minded production leader who enjoys understanding processes, solving problems and helping a team deliver consistent results.

Experience in confectionery, jam, preserves or similar food manufacturing processes would be particularly relevant. You’ll bring an understanding of how ingredients, temperature, mixing and process conditions affect product quality, alongside the leadership skills to keep daily production running effectively.

    The role

You’ll oversee the department’s day-to-day production activity, ensuring the team works safely and efficiently to meet quality and output requirements.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and supporting a team of eight production operators, setting clear expectations and maintaining high standards.

Organising daily production, allocating tasks and responding to changing priorities.

Monitoring production performance and addressing issues affecting output, quality, waste or downtime.

Investigating process problems and working with relevant colleagues to resolve them.

Coaching operators and helping them develop their skills and understanding of the process.

Maintaining food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and housekeeping standards.

Ensuring production records and process checks are completed accurately.

Working with quality, technical, engineering and planning colleagues to support reliable production.

Identifying practical improvements to ways of working, product consistency and efficiency.

    What we’re looking for

You’ll have experience supervising or leading a team within food manufacturing, with a practical understanding of production processes and a willingness to keep learning.

Relevant backgrounds could include confectionery, jam, preserves, sauces or other environments involving cooking, mixing, liquid handling or changes in product consistency.

    You’ll bring:

Experience as a Production Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, Team Leader or in a comparable production leadership role.

Strong technical curiosity and the ability to understand why a process works.

A practical, methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Clear communication and confidence in leading, coaching and motivating operators.

A good understanding of food safety, hygiene and quality requirements.

The ability to organise workloads and maintain standards under production pressure.

A hands-on attitude, initiative and a desire to develop your expertise.

    What’s on offer

    £50,000-£55,000 salary, depending on experience.

    Permanent employment.

Monday to Thursday working pattern, 6am-6pm.

Responsibility for an established team of eight operators.

The opportunity to contribute directly to production performance and process improvement.

If you enjoy leading people, understanding the technical detail of manufacturing and finding practical ways to improve production, we’d like to hear from you.
