How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Full-time
    £40,000-£42,000

We're looking for an experienced Engineering Lecturer / Engineer to deliver HNC and HND level engineering programmes, with opportunities available across Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

This is a primarily classroom-based role, focused on delivering the engineering theory, mathematics and principles that underpin a successful engineering career.
You'll be teaching learners who are progressing through higher-level engineering qualifications, helping them understand the theory behind the systems, processes and technologies they encounter in industry.

    The Role
You'll deliver engaging, technically accurate teaching across HNC/HND Engineering programmes, covering areas such as:

    Engineering Science
    Engineering Mathematics
    Engineering Principles
    Mechanical Engineering Principles
    Electrical and Electronic Principles
    Engineering Systems
    Technical problem solving
    Applied engineering theory
    The role will involve:

Planning and delivering classroom-based HNC/HND lessons
Teaching complex engineering theory and principles in a clear and practical way
Developing lesson plans, presentations and learning resources
Supporting learners with assignments, projects and technical development
Assessing learner work and providing constructive feedback
Monitoring learner progress and supporting successful completion of their qualifications
Linking engineering theory to real-world industrial applications
Keeping subject knowledge and teaching content aligned with current engineering practice
Creating a positive, professional and engaging learning environment
    About You
You'll have a strong technical background and be confident delivering higher-level engineering theory to learners.

    You'll need:

A relevant HNC, HND, degree or equivalent higher-level engineering qualification
Strong technical knowledge in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
A good understanding of Engineering Mathematics, Science and Principles
Experience working in engineering, education, training or technical delivery
The ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Desirable

Teaching or training qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent
    Previous experience delivering HNC/HND Engineering
    Experience within Further Education
    Assessor or IQA qualification
Experience developing engineering learning materials and assessments
Teaching qualifications are not essential if you have the right engineering background and experience. Full support can be provided to gain a recognised teaching qualification.

    What's on Offer

    £40,000-£42,000 salary, depending on experience
    Full-time, permanent position
    Primarily classroom-based delivery
Fully funded teaching qualification where required
    Professional development and career progression
The opportunity to teach at HNC/HND level rather than solely entry-level programmes
A chance to bring your engineering experience into the development of the next generation of engineers
If you're an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, Engineering Lecturer or Technical Trainer with the knowledge to deliver higher-level engineering theory, we'd be interested in hearing from you.

You could currently be working as an:
HNC/HND Lecturer | Engineering Lecturer | Further Education Lecturer | Engineering Tutor | Electrical Engineer | Mechanical Engineer | Design Engineer | Controls Engineer | Manufacturing Engineer | Engineering Trainer

Alternatively, you may be an experienced engineer who has moved into technical training and now wants to focus on higher-level classroom delivery
