How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Trainee Engineering Technician (HGV Class 2 Driver)

    £36,000 + Performance Bonus up to £6,000 + Full Engineering Training + Qualifications + Monday-Friday, 40 Hours + Weekend Overtime + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays + Pension

    Home-based - nationwide travel with weekly overnight stays Monday-Friday

    Candidates must live within commuting distance of Derby or Nottingham, including Mansfield, Newark, Hucknall, Long Eaton, Beeston, West Bridgford and Ilkeston.

    Are you an HGV Class 2 driver looking to build a career in engineering? Do you enjoy practical work and want a company that will provide full training and qualifications to help you develop into a specialist Engineering Technician?

    This is an excellent opportunity to use your existing HGV licence as the starting point for a new technical career. No previous engineering employment experience is required

    The company specialises in structural and infrastructure testing across the UK, working on projects including major stadiums, commercial buildings and critical infrastructure. You will join a specialist team carrying out essential testing that helps establish the strength and safety of building foundations.

    You will combine driving with hands-on engineering work, travelling to sites in an HGV and learning to set up and operate specialist testing equipment. Full industry training will cover static pile load testing, automated testing systems and recording technical results, with qualifications provided to support your development.

    This would suit a Class 2 driver looking for a career change into engineering, particularly someone who enjoys working with tools, maintaining vehicles or practical hobbies. Ex-Forces candidates with a Class 2 licence are encouraged to apply.

    The Role:

    Receive full training to become a specialist Engineering Technician.
    Drive an HGV to sites and learn to set up testing equipment using a lorry-mounted crane.
    Carry out structural pile load testing using automated equipment and record results.
    Work Monday-Friday, 40 hoursThe Person:

    Holds a valid HGV Class 2 licence.
    Looking to develop a long-term career in engineering.
    Practical, mechanically minded and keen to learn.
    Comfortable with nationwide travel and staying away Monday-Friday each week.
