How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you an Embedded Software Engineer who is skilled in Embedded Linux development (including Yocto)? Are you seeking a rewarding yet challenging role where you’ll work on a range of projects across Industries from Medical, Smart Home, Energy and Defence to Communications, Scientific and more?

    This Technical Consultancy will allow the successful Embedded Linux Software Engineer to broaden their technical knowledge, work closely with Clients and to contribute their own ideas to solve real-world challenges. It would be great to see applications from Embedded Software Engineers who have commercial experience across a variety of industries.

    You must possess at least 1-2 years’ commercial experience involving Embedded Linux, be fully eligible to work in the UK (sorry we cannot consider Graduate Visa’s) and bring a good academic history.

    In this Embedded Linux Software Engineer role you’ll have responsibility for a range of tasks such as building and maintaining Yocto based Linux distributions; writing and debugging firmware for microcontrollers, bare metal or FreeRTOS; working across the stack from bootloader and kernel drivers down to real time firmware as well as supporting products in the field.

    What you should bring to this Embedded Linux Software Engineer role:

    * Post-graduate commercial Embedded Software development experience.

    * Hands-on experience with Embedded Linux (Yocto Layers, Kernel Drivers, etc.)

    * Experience with FreeRTOS or another RTOS.

    * C/C++ development for Microcontrollers (ideally STM32/similar Cortex M)

    * Familiarity with debugging tools and reading schematics.

    * Good communication skills with confidence to work closely with customers.

    * Minimum of 2.1 Bachelors Degree in Electronics, computer Science or similar.
