How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary - £13.74 Per Hour 

    Full-Time | Permanent | 46 Hours Per Week

    Monday – Thursday | 18:00 – 06:00

    Pearson Whiffin Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Factory Operative / CNC Machining Operative to join a busy and established manufacturing operation based in Rochester.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous CNC machining experience who is looking for a permanent night-shift position within a hands-on production environment.

    The Role

    Working as part of the Machining team, you'll be responsible for processing components accurately and safely while maintaining high production and quality standards.

    Responsibilities will include:

    Processing parts in accordance with relevant work instructions and production documentation

    Operating within a CNC and machining environment

    Supporting CNC turning and CNC milling operations

    Carrying out manual turning, milling and drilling duties

    Fettling castings using compressed-air-driven hand grinding tools

    Carrying out manual handling duties within the production environment

    Moving boxes and castings safely around the factory

    Linishing castings using an upright linishing machine when required

    Etching castings using compressed-air-driven vibro-etching equipment

    Shot blasting castings using alumina grit

    Operating a band saw where required

    Completing job cards and accurately recording work carried out

    Using touchscreen systems to record production activity

    Maintaining clean and organised working areas

    Supporting general housekeeping and 5S standards within the department

    What We're Looking For

    Minimum 2 years' CNC experience

    Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or machining environment

    Experience operating CNC machinery

    CNC turning and/or CNC milling experience

    Experience working with metal components or castings would be advantageous

    Comfortable carrying out practical, hands-on production work

    Good attention to detail

    Able to follow technical instructions and production documentation accurately

    Comfortable with manual handling as part of the role

    Reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team

    Good understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment

    Willingness to undertake a variety of machining and finishing duties

    Comfortable working permanent night shifts following completion of training

    Following departmental COSHH requirements

    Working Hours

    Once training has been completed:

    Monday – Thursday | 18:00 – 06:00

    46 hours per week

    Please note that successful candidates will initially complete approximately 3 months of training on the day shift:

    Monday – Thursday | 06:00 – 16:30

    Friday | 06:00 – 14:30
