How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

NDT Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.

    What will you do?

The CWA is recruiting an experienced NDT Manager to become its technical authority for non-destructive testing across a complex portfolio of safety-critical manufactured works.

Based at Orwell Park, the position will include travel to manufacturing facilities in the UK and France, as well as the Sizewell C site.

The NDT Manager will carry out NDT inspection strategy for stainless-steel liner welds across the pools, tanks, sumps, IC Liner and SpEPs. This includes work undertaken at supplier facilities and within the CWA’s self-delivered bunker and island works.

Acting as the CWA’s NDT technical authority across the Transverse manufactured scope.

Owning method selection, procedures, inspection techniques and acceptance criteria against ETC-C, BTS 3.01 and the EDR.

Reviewing and approving supplier and subcontractor NDT procedures, technique sheets and personnel certifications.

Leading the PAUT qualification case for pools, tanks and the IC Liner, including PAUT, TOFD and test-coupon approaches.

Holding the radiographic testing secondary hold point and managing the radiation-protection interface for SafeRad activities under IRR17.

Reviewing inspection data, reports, defect sizing and technical assessments.

Planning NDT capacity against the welding programme so inspection does not constrain the project’s critical path.

Managing NDT subcontractors, equipment, spares, calibration, record storage and independent double-read requirements.

Leading, mentoring and developing CWA and subcontracted NDT technicians and inspectors.

Monitoring inspection activity, compliance, first-time acceptance, repair rates and the NDT backlog through clear monthly reporting.

Conducting surveillance at supplier facilities and ensuring records meet LTQR requirements.

Promoting nuclear safety culture and consistently applying the CWA’s safety standards

    What are we looking for?

The CWA is looking for a credible technical leader who combines substantial hands-on inspection experience with the ability to manage teams, suppliers and safety-critical assurance activities.

    The successful candidate will bring:

PCN or BS EN ISO 9712 Level 3, or CSWIP Level 3, in UT with PAUT and RT.

Between five and ten years of hands-on PAUT experience within industrial NDT.

Proven experience managing NDT teams and delivering complex inspection programmes involving safety-critical welded fabrication.

Experience gained within nuclear, pressure equipment, oil and gas, or another highly regulated environment.

Demonstrable capability in writing, qualifying and approving NDT procedures and inspection techniques.

A sound understanding of defect assessment, sizing and acceptance criteria.

Working knowledge of BS EN ISO 13588, BS EN ISO 17640, BS EN ISO 17636 and EN 12668.

Working knowledge of IRR17 and industrial radiography safety requirements.

The ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications and communicate clearly with clients, suppliers and delivery teams.

The ability to meet security-vetting requirements, ordinarily including UK residency for at least three of the previous five years.

Experience of ETC-C or RCC-CW, major nuclear projects such as Hinkley Point C or Flamanville 3, TOFD certification, an RPS appointment, subcontractor KPI management or working French would be advantageous.

    What we will offer you?

The CWA is a single delivery organisation made of up of the client (Sizewell C) and three parent companies - Balfour Beatty, Bouygues and Laing O'Rourke - which offer industry leading packages including market leading salaries, generous annual leave entitlements, pension scheme and other flexible benefits.
