How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Experienced Safeguarding Social Worker – Adult MASH

    Location: Huyton, Merseyside Pay Rate: £32.82 per hour Umbrella Contract: Temporary / Locum Hours: Full-time

    We are currently recruiting for an Experienced Safeguarding Social Worker to join the Adult Safeguarding service in Huyton, Merseyside.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social worker with strong adult safeguarding experience. Previous Adult MASH experience would be advantageous, although candidates with significant safeguarding experience within adult social care are encouraged to apply.

    The Role

    You will promote the welfare, safety and safeguarding of adults across Knowsley, working under the direction of the management team to ensure that safeguarding concerns and enquiries are managed effectively and in accordance with the Care Act 2014 and local safeguarding policies and procedures.

    You will undertake Section 42 safeguarding enquiries, managing cases with varying levels of complexity, risk, uncertainty and challenge in line with the expectations of an experienced social worker.

    You will carry a manageable caseload of approximately 12–15 safeguarding cases, ensuring effective risk management, recording, partnership working and outcomes for adults.

    As part of the role, you will also work one day per week as the MASH duty social worker, responding to safeguarding concerns, taking calls, completing partnership checks and undertaking initial enquiries. You may also be required to provide additional MASH cover during periods of staff sickness or annual leave.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Undertake safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014.

    * Assess and manage safeguarding risks, ensuring appropriate protective action is taken.

    * Promote Making Safeguarding Personal, ensuring the adult's wishes, views and desired outcomes remain central to safeguarding practice.

    * Manage a caseload of approximately 12–15 safeguarding cases.

    * Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including health, police, housing and other statutory and voluntary services.

    * Undertake MASH duty responsibilities, including responding to safeguarding referrals, gathering information and completing partnership checks.

    * Make sound professional decisions in situations involving complexity, risk and uncertainty.

    * Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive case records.

    * Work in accordance with Knowsley's safeguarding policies, procedures and relevant legislation.

    * Ensure information is shared appropriately and lawfully in accordance with GDPR and data protection requirements.

    * Protect Council information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference.

    * Identify and report actual or potential information security incidents.

    * Contribute effectively to multi-agency safeguarding meetings and planning.

    * Ensure safeguarding interventions are proportionate, person-centred and outcome-focused.

    Requirements

    Social Work England registration.

    Relevant social work qualification.

    Significant post-qualification experience within adult social care and safeguarding.

    Strong knowledge and understanding of the Care Act 2014 and adult safeguarding procedures.

    Experience undertaking or contributing to Section 42 safeguarding enquiries.

    Experience managing complex safeguarding cases and assessing risk.

    Strong multi-agency and partnership-working skills.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Ability to work independently and make sound professional judgements.

    Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, consent and information-sharing principles.

    Good understanding of GDPR, confidentiality and information governance.

    Adult MASH experience is desirable.
