How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

At Hft, our vision is to create a future where learning disabled people can live the best life possible. We do this by coming together to campaign for positive change, provide personalised support and create solutions for living independently.
We’re looking for a passionate and engaging Project SEARCH Tutor to join our team and play a key role in supporting young people to develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to move into meaningful paid employment.
    About the role
As a Project SEARCH Tutor, you’ll coordinate and deliver the classroom-based employability curriculum within the DFN Project SEARCH programme.
You’ll work closely with interns, employers, Job Coaches, families and partner organisations to create a supportive and engaging learning experience, helping young people build the practical skills and confidence they need to succeed in the workplace.
You’ll be responsible for planning and delivering accessible, engaging sessions that develop employability, workplace behaviours, communication and independence. You’ll adapt your teaching to individual learning needs and embed literacy, numeracy, digital and employability skills throughout the programme.
You’ll also support learners to identify their career goals, monitor their progress and work towards individual learning and employment outcomes.
    What you’ll be doing
    Working with employers and partners
A key part of the role will be building strong relationships with employers, workplace mentors, families and external partners.
You’ll work alongside Job Coaches to ensure that classroom learning reflects the realities of the workplace and support learners with activities such as CV writing, job applications and interview preparation.
You’ll also organise and chair monthly Steering Group meetings, bringing partners together to support effective programme delivery and positive outcomes for interns.
    About you
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about helping young people with learning disabilities, autism and additional learning needs reach their potential.
You’ll have experience delivering employability, vocational or life skills programmes, alongside experience of planning, delivering and assessing learning. You’ll be confident adapting your approach to meet different learning needs and building positive relationships with learners, employers and partner organisations.
You’ll also need strong communication, organisation and administration skills, together with good IT skills.
    What you’ll need
    Essential:
    • Level 3 qualification in Education, Training, Employability, Youth Work or a related subject.
    • Teaching qualification such as AET/PTLLS, or a willingness to work towards one.
    • Experience delivering employability, vocational or life skills programmes.
    • Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs, learning disabilities and/or autism.
    • Experience planning, delivering and assessing learning.
    • Strong communication and organisational skills.
    • Ability to build effective relationships with employers and external partners.
    • Good IT and administrative skills.
    Desirable
    • A Level 4 or 5 teaching qualification.
    • Knowledge of the DFN Project SEARCH model.
    • Knowledge of the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) framework in Wales.
    • Experience working within supported internships.
    • Safeguarding and Prevent training.
    • Experience working with employers to support positive employment outcomes.
Welsh speaking would be highly advantageous
    Why join us?
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people, helping them develop the skills, confidence and independence to move towards a future in paid employment.
You’ll be joining a team that is committed to creating meaningful opportunities, challenging barriers and supporting learning disabled people to live the best life possible.
    Recruitment Process
Applications close on: Friday 16th October
Following your application, you’ll have an initial pre-screen call with a member of our Recruitment team before progressing to the formal interview stage.
